In February 2017, the Ontario government announced an expanded list of drugs that optometrists can prescribe.

One of the main drug that was added was Restasis. Restasis is an eye drop that can increase your eyes’ ability to produce their own tears. It is helpful to those who experience chronic inflammatory dry eyes. Restasis has a twice a day dosage.

Another main drug that was added to the list is Bepreve. Bepreve is an anti-allergy eye drop. It is long lasting, one drop is effective for 8 hours. It is also fast acting- stopping itchy eyes within 3 minutes. Bepreve also has a twice a day dosage.
